The Kissing Hand (English) – Un beso en mi mano (español)
By far one of my favorite books to start off the school year! This past year in kindergarten, we even made little hand-shaped cookies and put a chocolate kiss inside! After we searched the school for Chester Mapache or Raccoon (while simultaneously getting a very beneficial tour of building), the kiddos were delighted to find their special treat on their desks!

Chrysanthemum (English) – Crisantemo (español)
Another beloved beginning of year book. While a little bit long for kindergarten, my students still loved hearing this and talking about how special everyone’s name is.
One of my favorite TeacherPayTeacher authors, Silvia Schavz, has a wonderful activity set in Spanish to go along with this book for $4.99.

Interrupting Chicken (English)
While unfortunately I haven’t been able to find this book in Spanish yet, it is another wonderful classroom management book. My students especially loved when I read it with funny voices!
For extra fun, I found a set of a Papa Chicken and Baby Chicken puppets!
More coming soon!
